
Mr Alun Williams
Mr Williams is a Consultant ENT Surgeon working in Edinburgh.
Following extensive training in general ENT, Mr Williams gained
advanced training in rhinology (nasal and sinus surgery) in
Edinburgh and New Zealand.
Over the past fifteen years he has developed a practice in the
Edinburgh University Teaching Hospitals covering the advanced
aspects of nasal and sinus disease.
He has particular interest in the extended applications of
endoscopic sinus techniques including complex frontal sinus surgery,
lacrimal and orbital surgery and management of nasal and sinus
tumours. Mr Williams is the only ENT surgeon in private practice in
Edinburgh fully trained in the routine and advanced use of balloon
sinuplasty techniques.
Mr Williams also has advanced training and experience in nasal
reconstructive and plastic operations (rhinoplasty and
septorhinoplasty).
Mr Williams is a member of the British Rhinological Society and
Rhinology liaison to the Edinburgh Head and Neck Cancer team.
Mr Williams has had a leading role in ENT undergraduate and
postgraduate training. He was the lead for undergraduate ENT
training for the University of Edinburgh for six years and is an
Honorary Senior Lecturer with the University of Edinburgh. He is the
lead trainer for postgraduate specialty ENT training in Edinburgh
and sits on the National Training Committee. He is also a member of
the UK national higher training selection team for ENT.
Mr Williams is a member of the Specialty Advisory Committee in Ent
to the Joint Committee on Surgical Training.
